The tragedy of war is in our living rooms - We can’t get away from it. News of the war. Stories of the war. And heartwarming reports of heroism.
This is one story that has stood out for me amid all the chaos, reminding me that resilience can show up in the darkest of places, that courage is the willingness to start the journey - and that leadership is what makes us keep putting one foot in front of the other until we reach our goal.
11-year-old Ukrainian refugee traveled 1000km alone to Slovakia to get to safety!
The boy came all alone with a plastic bag, passport and a telephone number written on his hand. "He conquered everyone with his smile, fearlessness and determination of a real hero," said Slovak Interior Ministry representative.
"I am very grateful that they saved the life of my child,” said the boy's mother, Yulia Pisetskaya in a video message posted on Facebook. “In your small country, there are people with big hearts.” She added: “I am a widow and I have more children. I want to thank the Slovak customs and volunteers who took care of my son and helped him cross the border. I am grateful you have saved my child’s life.
Next to my town is a nuclear power plant that the Russians are shooting at. I couldn’t leave my mother – she can’t move on her own”, added Yulia.
This young boy is a leader without a title! And his mother is a hero who made a courageous decision.
Until next time - have a beautiful month of heartwarming courage!
